Dear Future Fifth Graders,
Over the summer, you are required to
complete two assignments. First, you
need to get a copy of the book "The
Homework Machine" by Dan Gutman
(you can buy a copy, rent one from the
library, etc.). Before you begin the
book, you should read over the
questions that you must answer.
After you read these, you should
begin reading the book. Stop after
each chapter and answer the
questions that correspond with that to
school, we will use this book to begin
our literature unit for the year!
In addition to the reading assignment,
you must complete a math worksheet.
This sheet has various problems to
help you get ready for fifth grade.
Please complete the attached
worksheet and return it to school with
the reading assignments. Both
assignments are due on the first day
of school, Wednesday, September 7,
2011. These assignments will be
counted as major grades for the first
trimester. If you fail to turn in your
completed papers on September 7, you
will be penalized 5 points for each day.
Enjoy your summer! I look forward to
meeting you all in September!
Thank you,
